Italian Prime Minister Antonio Conte said that Russia “plays a fundamental and important role in solving challenges which Europe, Russia and the world are facing,” speaking at a joint press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Rome on Thursday.
Putin on his part said that talks with the Italian premier “were business-like and constructive.”
“During the visit matters of bilateral... Еще cooperation were discussed in detail. A range of global and regional questions were also touched upon,” said the Russian leader.
Going on to discuss the crisis in Venezuela, Putin stated that political dialogue is needed in order to solve the situation.
He as well said that Russia is not “obliged to make a decisive contribution” into the Libyan settlement, but added that Moscow retains “equal relations” with both the UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) and General Khalifa Haftar’s Libyan National Army (LNA).
“Both of them have been to Moscow, both of them have been in Rome. We need to stop the armed confrontation as quickly as possible, establish a dialogue and agree on how to build and revive the Libyan statehood, we are all interested in this,” Putin concluded.
