Thousands of people took to the streets of Rome on Saturday, to protest against the enslaving and selling of black Africans in Libya, following an incriminating CNN report about slave auctions in the country.
The protesters marched from Piazza della Repubblica to Piazza del Popolo, holding rallies in both squares. They condemned European Union and Italian agreements with Libya as being a prime... Еще cause of people being sold as slaves there. Protesters asked for residence permits on humanitarian grounds for refugees without protection, as well as dignity and a better future.
In the words of one demonstrator, Saturday’s protest was “the demonstration of the invisible, the ones that Europe doesn't want to make visible, and the ones that Italy and the Italian government keep hiding.”
