Italy: Nearly 3,000 residents evacuated for 'Bomba day' in Venice

Residents in Porto Marghera, Venice, were evacuated from their homes on Sunday, to allow experts to dispose of an unexploded World War II bomb found by construction workers two weeks ago. Around 3,000 people were evacuated and hosted at a temporary shelter, while traffic was halted and police forces enforced a cordon zone in the area. The device, which weighed 226.8-kilos and contained about... Еще 127 kilograms of TNT, was then detonated at sea by bomb disposal units. Mandatory Credit: Ufficio stampa Comune di Venezia
