A spokesperson of Mediterranea Saving Humans, Italian NGO that rescues migrants at the Mediterranean Sea, and a head of an Alex boat mission commented the seizure of the boat in Lampedusa on Monday.
The crew and more than 40 rescued migrants had spent two days at sea before they decided to dock in Lampedusa port on Sunday.
The Alex boat mission defied Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini's... Еще ban which led to boat's seizure by the authorities and the launch of an investigation of the crew's actions for assisting illegal migration.
Erasmo Palazzotto, Head of the Alex boat mission and also a member of an Italian parliament said that he is «not afraid of investigations» and is even «happy» as this will show once again that the NGO didn't act against the law.
He added that the conditions on the boat were so dire that docking in Lampedusa port was the only choice they had.
«The war in the Mediterranean Sea is not against migrants, it's against the idea of a power limit and the value of the people's lives,» added Mediterranea Saving Humans spokesperson, Alessandra Sciurba.
