Italy: Heavy flooding hits northern Italy

A red weather alert was issued in the town of Chiavari in the northern Italian province of Genoa, on late Monday night after the river Entella burst its banks. Residents were urged to leave the area with more than 1,000 people evacuated in the nearby Reggio Emilia province after the river Enza overflowed its banks. A warning was reportedly issued after seven-metre waves were recorded along Genoa... Еще's coast. Much of northern Italy was hit with snow and ice earlier this week that caused hazardous conditions and affected transport, in particular the railway.
