Italy: Extradited fugitive left-wing militant Battisti arrives in Rome

Former Italian member of the Armed Proletarians for Communism (PAC), Cesare Battisti, arrived in Rome on Monday after being extradited from Bolivia, where he was found as part of an international police operation. Battisti was sentenced in absentia to life imprisonment for four murders carried out in the 1970s in Italy, which he denies committing. After escaping from prison and leaving Italy... Еще, Battisti lived in France before heading to Brazil in 2004. Battisti was arrested in Rio de Janeiro in 2007, but was granted political asylum by the Brazilian government during the Lula administration in 2009. In December, then-Brazilian President Michel Temer issued an arrest warrant for Battisti, who had since then vanished. He was found in Santa Cruz de La Sierra last Saturday.
