Amanda Knox arrived in Milan on Thursday, stepping foot in Italy for the first time since she was released from prison in 2011, following being acquitted of the murder of her housemate, British student Meredith Kercher.
Knox landed at Milan's Linate Airport airport in the morning, on a flight reportedly coming from Dublin. According to reports, she will take part in a debate about the media... Before arriving in Italian soil, Knox wrote on her Twitter account: «I'm returning to Italy as a free woman.» She also posted on social media about her decision of not to give any interviews at the moment and shared an essay published on her personal Medium account entitled «Your Content, My Life.»
Knox was arrested in 2007 in Perugia, northern Italy, after her housemate Kercher, 21, was found dead with a slashed throat in the residence they shared. The American spent four years in prison, along with her ex-boyfriend, Italian Raffaele Sollecito.
Knox was released in 2011 after being acquitted only for a subsequent retrial in to find her and Sollecito guilty once again in 2014, before the pair were finally definitively exonerated by Italy's supreme court in 2015.
