The 'Fate capsule' — a romantic vending machine located outside a small pet shop in Hong Kong's Shek Kip Mei neighbourhood — helps lonely hearts to find «the one.» The pink machine has separate compartments for men and women. People seeking love pay just 20 Hong Kong dollars ($2.67/€2.21) — and a plastic capsule with information about a presumably single person pops out. Each fate capsule... Еще includes the name, height, weight and ID number on Chinese messaging app WeChat of the potential date. The idea was brought to Hong Kong by the owner of BT Reptile, Ben Tang. After discovering the capsule dating concept in Taiwan, he decided to set up the romantic contraption near his shop. «I think Hong Kong is quite depressing, that’s why I want to bring some fun ideas to Hong Kong and to help people to find a new friend or their significant other,» Tang explained. Every day, after verifying the authenticity of single candidates who have filled in a special online form, Tang prints out their profiles and puts the notes into capsules. According to the shop owner, he sometimes spends around five hours sourcing and vetting the applications. Tang also keeps in touch with those whose capsules have been sold to check if they are satisfied with the date arranged by the matchmaking machine.
