ISS: Russian cosmonauts stress intnl. unity in ‘happy New Year’ address

Russian cosmonauts Aleksandr Skvortsov and Oleg Skripochka gave happy New Year wishes while speaking aboard the International Space Station (ISS) on Monday. “We all had many reasons to be proud of ourselves, our loved ones and our country,” Skvortsov stated. His colleague noted that «despite different challenges, people on Earth, whatever their nation, continue to cooperate and be friends and... Еще move forward together.» According to Skripochka, cooperation in space is a “vivid example” of international unity. “We want each of you, like us, to remember the best of this year, leaving the bad behind. Together, let us wish each other new achievements, amazing discoveries, joy and happiness, health and well-being. Happy New Year!,» Scripochka said. The cosmonauts have already decorated the station as well as installed an improvised Christmas tree. Apart from the two Russians, Italian astronaut Luca Parmitano and Americans Christina Koch, Andrew Morgan and Jessica Meir are on duty aboard the ISS.
