Tens of thousands of Israelis partook in a «March of Shame» across central Tel Aviv, protesting against legislation that would shield Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from ongoing police investigations over corruption, Saturday. The march began at 16 Rothschild Street, where the declaration of Israeli independence occurred in 1948. Protesters chanted and held signs reading «Crime... Еще Minister» and «shame» amongst others. The bill which was passed on the first reading is expected to go through a second reading on Monday which would mean that police would be prevented from issuing indictment recommendations during investigations against public figures. «Our parents and grandparents came to Israel seventy years ago to build a democracy Jewish country, and what they are doing is destroying step-by-step, by making new rules,» stated one protester named Michal.
