Dozens of protesters rallied in downtown Tel Aviv on Monday to decry the government-approved bill that would allow it to take any kind of COVID-related measures without the approval from the Knesset — the Israeli Parliament. The Knesset Coronavirus Committee approved the bill on Monday night.
Demonstrators were seen chanting, holding banners and signs, as they rallied blocking a street. Protesters staging a sit-in could also be spotted with drivers passing by and honking.
«This will lead to forbidding any kind of protests, gatherings, this is the peak of the fight [Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu has declared against the Democratic State of Israel,» said protester, Haim Shadmi.
Another demonstrator, Gali Israel-Tal, added, «It's a dictatorship, in my opinion, it's simply a dictatorship. It's unbelievable,» stressing, «a psychopath is leading our country, I have no other word to describe it.»
