Israel: Protests outside Knesset as swearing-in ceremony of unity government postponed

Protesters staged a rally outside the Knesset in Jerusalem on Thursday, to oppose the fresh coalition government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former rival Benny Gantz. People held flags and chanted slogans at what remained a largely peaceful rally. A banner reading 'Crime Minister' depicting Netanyahu was also visible. Many blamed the political leadership for being disconnected from... Еще the country's real problems, such as unemployment and poverty. Others expressed their dissatisfaction as Netanyahu is forming a new government despite facing trial on corruption charges. Israel will swear in the new government on Sunday, bringing to an end the political stalemate dragging on since a year and a half and three elections. The ceremony was in initially scheduled for Thursday, but it had to be postponed as Netanyahu failed to complete his allocated ministerial appointments.
