Israel: Protesters hit Kiryat Motzkin streets over killing of Ethiopian-Israeli man

Protesters hit the streets of Kiryat Motzkin in Haifa area on Monday, to condemn the fatal of shooting of a young Ethiopian-Israeli man by an off-duty police officer the night before. The Ethiopian-Israeli man, identified as Solomon Tekah, was allegedly shot during an altercation in Haifa's neighbourhood of Kiryat Haim. He was found in critical condition at around 20:00 local time (17:00 GMT) on... Еще Sunday and was pronounced dead shortly after. Police have launched an investigation into the incident. The officer who shot Tekah claims to have opened fire because he believed he was in danger as he attempted to break up a street fight that he had come across. The officer was detained following the killing but was later released to house arrest. The incident has stirred protests against what members of the Israeli-Ethiopian community claim to be police brutality and racism towards them.
