Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu welcomed the first official visit by Bahrain's Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Alzayani, to Jerusalem on Wednesday, alongside US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
It was the first official delegation to visit the country since the Gulf kingdom signed a deal to normalise relations with Israel in September.
«Today we're making history again. This is the first-ever official ministerial visit from the Kingdom of Bahrain to the state of Israel. It marks another important milestone on the road to peace between our two countries and peace in the region,» said Netanyahu.
«I continue to emphasise in all my meetings that in order to achieve and consolidate such a peace, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict needs to be resolved. I, therefore, call for both parties to get around the negotiating table, to achieve a viable two-state solution, as is also sought by the international community,» stressed Bahrain's Abdullatif bin Rashid Alzayani.
At the press conference, Pompeo praised the Abraham agreements between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Sudan, saying they will bring security and stability in the region.
