The first privately-funded mission to the Moon crashed on the lunar surface due to reported engine failure on Thursday.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu witnessed the events live from the aerospace control room in Tel Aviv on Thursday.
He was accompanied by president of the SpaceIL Company Morris Kahn, who backed the 'Beresheet' spacecraft's mission.
«If at first you don't succeed, you... Еще try again,» Netanyahu reminded Kahn.
The mission, funded by the non-profit SpaceIL and Israel Aerospace Industries, was aiming at reaching the lunar surface to conduct experiments.
Israel hoped to become the fourth country to land a spacecraft on the moon.
