Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu welcomed US President Donald Trump's authorisation of sanctions against the International Criminal Court (ICC) officials involved in investigating alleged war crimes committed by the US and allied forces in Afghanistan and other countries, speaking at a press conference in Jerusalem on Thursday.
«I want to congratulate President Trump and Secretary [of State] Pompeo for their bold leadership in sanctioning the corrupt and biased International Criminal Court,» said Netanyahu.
The prime minister accused the ICC of being «biased» and «politicised,» calling it a «kangaroo court.»
Netanyahu described the ICC to be «obsessed with conducting witch hunts against Israel, the United States and other democracies that respect human rights,» at the time it turns «a blind eye to the world's greatest abusers of human rights, including the terrorist regime in Iran.»
Earlier on Thursday, Trump announced that his administration would block all US property and assets of any ICC officials involved in the investigations, and will impose travel restrictions.
