Israel: Netanyahu agrees to budget compromise, avoiding new elections

Israeli Prime Minister accepted a budget compromise, on Sunday, in order to avoid new elections, announcing it was «the right answer to the Israeli economy» during a speech in Jerusalem. «Out of national responsibility I have decided tonight to accept the compromise offered by MK Hauser. This compromise allows an immediate monetary infusion to Israeli citizens and the economy, and it prevents the need for elections,» he said. The PM had a budget deadline to reach a deal to prevent the government from collapsing, which would have triggered the country's fourth parliamentary elections in less than two years.
