US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Israeli Prime Minister held a joint press conference in Jerusalem on Thursday in which they discussed the BDS [Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions] movement against Israeli products, Donald Trump, and went into detail about their nations mutual respect for one another.
«Today I wanna make one announcement with respect to a decision by the state department. We will regard the global anti-Israel BDS campaign as anti-semitic. I know this will sound simple to you, Mr. Prime Minister, it seems like a statement of fact, but I want you to know we will immediately take steps to identify organisations that engage in hateful BDS conduct and withdraw US government support for such groups,» announced Pompeo.
Israel sees BDS as a strategic threat to its safety and economy and has forever accused it of anti-Semitism. A law passed in 2017 allows Israel to ban foreigners with links to BDS.
As the two administrations complimented each other throughout the press conference, Netanyahu thanked Pompeo for his administration's unrepentant support on the public stage.
«Under your leadership at the state department, US representatives at the UN and other international forums have unabashedly defended Israel with no apologetics and no artificial correctives,» stated Netanyahu.
