Speaking to supporters at an election rally in Tel Aviv on early Tuesday, Blue and White party leader Benny Gantz did not concede the election and asked his supporters to «wait for the final results,» despite exit polls suggesting his party scored between 32 and 34 seats, compared to 36 or 37 seats for Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud.
«We need to walk up straight and wait for the final results. In... Еще the end of the day the exit polls suggest the results are similar to the results of last April,» said Gantz.
Commenting on what the exit polls suggest is a major gain for Netanyahu, Gantz reminded supporters that in two weeks time Netanyahu will be facing justice as a defendant in court for serious corruption allegations. He added that criminal proceedings can only be determined and cleared in court.
Gantz was joined on stage by his coalition partners Gabi Ashkenazi, Moshe Ya'alon and Yair Lapid.
Exit polls indicate that Likud and its right-wing allies gain 59 seats, falling short from securing majority in parliament.
