Israel has been talking with Russia to secure the purchase of Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine, according to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu talking in Jerusalem on Monday.
«An hour ago I spoke on the phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the prospect of the option of purchasing the vaccine Sputnik V. We will discuss this in the coming days,» said Netanyahu.
The Israeli Prime Minister also promised the country would be the first to receive vaccines developed by US company Moderna which has showed a 95 percent effectiveness based on early data.
Dubbed the 'world's first' vaccine against COVID-19, Sputnik V is due to enter civilian circulation from the beginning of 2021.
The product was registered by the Russian Health Ministry and is produced with the financial help of the Russian Direct Investment Fund.
