The UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stated that to deny Israel's right to exist is a form of «modern anti-Semitism,» in a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held in Jerusalem, Monday. «It is, for me, clear that to express that the right of existence of the State of Israel doesn't exist, or the wish to destroy the State of Israel, is an unacceptable form... Еще of modern anti-Semitism,» Guterres told Netanyahu. He added that «I am totally committed to be, in this regard, adamant that the right of existence of the State of Israel is clear.» In turn, Netanyahu stated that «You have clearly demonstrated a desire since you've taken office to turn a new page in the relations between Israel and the UN,» he said. «No question that we've had a troubled relationship with the UN, I think it has an absurd obsession with Israel, flagrantly discriminatory tactics.» Guterres is conducting his first trip to the region since he took the Secretary-General office in January 2017. Over the course of his trip he will hold meetings with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah and visit the West Bank.
