A team of Israeli and Australian archaeologists said on Monday that they identified the site of the biblical city of Ziklag near the southern town of Kiryat Gat. Footage which was first published on June, 26 shows massive stone structures and scientists unearthing ancient vessels.
During the excavation, which began in 2015 at the Khirbet al-Ra'i site, experts found evidence of a Philistine... Еще settlement dating from the 11th-12th century BCE. Professor Yosef Garfinkel from the Institute of Archaeology at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem said the findings are consistent with the Bible's references to the site's geography.
As recorded in the Book of Samuel, the town of Ziklag offered refuge to the future King David when he was hiding from King Saul.
