A prayer service for the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha held at Dublin's Croke Park stadium was marred by an anti-Islam demonstration outside the ground on Friday.
Garda officers were seen taking a protester into custody in a van while a local resident filmed the event and asked for explanations. A counter-protest took place at the same location with activists seen holding a sign reading «Ballybough residents against racism.»
In total, at least three protesters, two women and a man, were arrested for public order offences and later released with no charges, reports say.
The prayer event put together by the Irish Muslim Peace and Integration Council was said to have been organised at the sports venue due to the pitch enabling proper prayer services while allowing for social distance.
A total of 200 Muslim worshippers attended the service.
