French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian arrived in the Iraqi capital Baghdad on Thursday, where he was greeted by his Iraqi counterpart, Fuad Hussein.
The two discussed some pressing bilateral and international issues, with the French minister ensuring Hussein of his country's readiness to help with the reconstruction of Iraq, adding that the two ministers «trust each other.»
«We are also involved in the reconstruction process. We've taken out a financial aid of one billion euros ($1,14 billion) to enable the implementation of a major reconstruction project in the fields of transport, energy, and water. They can give Iraq the right infrastructure and services needed for the population while creating numerous job opportunities for youth,» said Le Drian.
