Iraq: US Christian Amish volunteers restore houses damaged by conflict with IS in Mosul

Members of a US Christian Amish community volunteered to clean houses that were damaged during the fighting against the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS, ISIL) in Mosul, Northern Iraq, Friday. The volunteers were focussing their activity on recovering buildings, and burned property in particular. Some of them were carrying out the work for a two-week period, whilst others have... Еще moved to Iraq to work on the project on a longer-term basis. One volunteer said he saw the work as «an opportunity to come and help to share the love of god and express my faith, as it were, in this way. Essentially to be a neighbour to those who are in need in this world.» Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al Abadi formally declared the city of Mosul liberated on July 10.
