Kurdish security forces have ended a hostage situation in the Erbil governorate building, after three gunmen stormed the premises killing at least one employee on Monday. Assailants had reportedly gained access to the building through a side and main entrance, seizing the third floor with an unspecified number of hostages. The identity and the group allegiance of the gunmen is not yet confirmed, as no group has taken the responsibility for the attack. The governorate building is the seat of the Kurdistan Regional Government in northern Iraq. Governor of Erbil Nawzad Hadi spoke on camera after the incident.
