Amid ongoing unrest in Iraq, protesters were blocking vital roads and streets in central Baghdad on Monday in spite of a nation-wide call by Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi to ease the protests late Sunday.
Footage shows protesters on Hafiz Alqadhi Square and streets leading up to Ahrar Bridge, one of the bridges blocked by protesters. The streets are swarming with ambulances and three... Еще-wheeled tuk-tuks. Medics tend to the injured as smoke rises in the distance seemingly from the bridge blockade site.
Protests began in early October, with people taking to the streets over several grievances, including corruption, unemployment and lack of basic services in the country. However, demonstrations were suspended after the security forces started using live ammunition, reportedly killing 150 people.
