Anti-government protesters transformed key areas of central Baghdad into spaces for creative self-expression and interaction as shown in footage filmed in Baghdad on Saturday.
Street artists were seen drawing and writing on the walls of the iconic tunnel leading beneath Tahrir Square. Others were seen cleaning the streets, preparing large amounts of food and some getting a haircut.
«Life in... Еще this tunnel was almost non-existent. There are were no drawings [on the walls] there was nothing, but with the efforts of painters and volunteers who faced tear gas, we were able to come up with a drawing that is expressive and representative of the revolution,» one of the street artists said.
Massive anti-government protests have gripped the country since October 1, when demonstrators filled the streets, denouncing high levels of unemployment, widespread corruption and a lack of basic services.
