Iraq: 'It makes me cry' — Alan Kurdi's father on image of drowned migrants at US border

The image of a young migrant and his toddler daughter who drowned while trying to reach the United States reminds Alan (originally referred to as Aylan) Kurdi's father of his own family's fate, he said during an interview in the Iraqi city of Erbil, Tuesday. Abdullah Kurdi, whose 3-year-old son Alan drowned 4 years ago as the family tried to reach Europe, said that stories like that make him cry... Еще and he «could not sleep all night» after viewing the photo. The man in the image is believed to be 25-year-old Oscar Martinez Ramirez from El Salvador, who drowned alongside his two-year-old daughter Valeria as their family attempted to cross the Rio Grande on their journey to the United States. Kurdi said he cries every day after his family drowned, and urges the world to «stop supporting wars.» The now infamous image of his son Alan Kurdi, whose body washed up on the Turkish shore on September 2nd 2015, sparked international outcry over the risks facing refugees and migrants.
