Iraq: Baghdad votes in first parliamentary election since IS defeat

Iraqis headed to the polls on Saturday in their first parliamentary election since victory was declared over the so-called Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS, ISIL), footage filmed in the Omar Mukhtar electoral centre in Baghdad shows. One local described how they attempted to arrive early to avoid crowds, but found it to be busy already, which she described as ‘very promising.’ «We want Iraq to... Еще change completely, everything needs absolute change. This is what we want, real elections,» she added. The election is the fourth to take place since former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein was overthrown in 2003, and is the first to be conducted electronically in an attempt to combat voter fraud.
