Foreign Minister of Iran Javad Zarif said in Tehran on Sunday that he would explain the impact of US sanctions on Iran to Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe during the latter's upcoming two-day visit to Iran and amid rising tensions with the United States.
«What we have clearly said is that there is no difference between economic war and war. Mr. Trump announced that he is busy with the economic... Еще war,» Zarif said, before adding «the only way to deal with the current problems is to stop the policy of economic war.»
Abe's visit to Iran will kick off on Wednesday, when he is expected to meet with Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and President Hassan Rouhani. Abe's trip will be the first by an acting Japanese prime minister to Iran in 41 years.
Tensions have been rising between the US and Iran in recent weeks, since Tehran announced it would partially withdraw from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), on May 8, one year after the United States withdrew and re-imposed sanctions on Iran.
