Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Bahram Ghassemi argued that the US puts pressure is «putting pressure» on the EU to overhaul the landmark nuclear deal with Iran, speaking at a press conference in Tehran on Monday. Ghassemi said that the US attempts «to create distance between Iran and Europe by any means, such as putting pressure on Europe. This cooperation was becoming successful, and now... Еще it's facing problems.» The Iranian diplomat denied that Tehran has had negotiations with France over its ballistic missile programme and the nuclear deal noting that, «the missile issue is our red line.» On January 12, US President Donald Trump set a 120-day deadline for US lawmakers and European allies, including the UK, France and Germany, to overhaul the accord or he would withdraw from the deal. The three European signatories have begun working through a plan to appease Trump by addressing Iran's missile programme while preserving the nuclear deal. On Monday, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian noted that Trump's demands to «fix» the deal resemble «ultimatums» and that EU leaders would stay «firm» on the need to preserve the accord. Le Drian is set to travel to Iran on March 5 to discuss Iran's ballistic missile programme.
