Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Tuesday dismissed Washington's offer for talks as political tricks and said Tehran would not abandon its missile program.
The remarks came at a ceremony marking the 30th death anniversary of the founder of the Islamic Republic Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini in Tehran.
«Iran's authorities and Iran's nation will not be deceived by his (Trump's... Еще) political tricks. Americans should not get close,» warned Khamenei in a ceremony attended by high-ranking Iranian officials.
«In the missile program, they know we have reached a point of deterrence and stability. They want to deprive us from it, but they will never succeed,» added the Iranian Supreme Leader.
The remarks came after Iranian President suggested talks with the US were possible if sanctions were lifted and Washington also softened its stance after several weeks of intense warmongering rhetoric.
Tensions have been rising between the US and Iran in recent weeks, since Tehran announced it would partially withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), on May 8, one year after the United States withdrew and re-imposed sanctions on Iran.
