Residents of Iran’s capital city of Tehran appeared on Wednesday to be unshaken and not at all surprised by the latest round of sanctions imposed by the US government, with one of the locals emphasising how much of a common issue they have become.
“It can't be said that this does not affect people's lives. However, it has become a common issue. Precisely, our circumstances are not clear somewhat... Еще. I cannot anticipate the future of these sanctions and what will happen in the end,” said Hossein Bazri.
“With respect to US's repetitive sanctions, if the United States did not impose another sanction, we would be surprised. We have got used to it and it is not interesting anymore. We are awaiting other sanctions every day. It seems that they are afraid of us maybe, as they have been imposing sanctions to get back at us somehow but it seems it is not enough for them. They are looking for an excuse to impose other sanctions on us. Hence, we do not take it seriously,” stated one of Tehran's municipality employees, Mehdi
Another resident, Abbas Karimi, took a harder stance against the newly imposed sanctions, praising Iranians resilience by adding: “Our people have got used to such issues. Iranians are like iron, the more they are under pressure, the tougher they become. I can say that these sanctions are kind of a game. In fact, this is in order to keep most of Iranians impoverished and keep them away from their international interests. As you know that Iran is the richest country in the world.”
According to reports, on Wednesday the United States announced a new round of sanctions aimed at the country’s interior minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli, in addition to other law enforcement officials, accusing them of human rights violations.
