Iran: Sarpol-e Zahab residents left sleeping in tents after deadly quake

Residents affected by the 7.3 magnitude earthquake in the Iranian town of Sarpol-e Zahab were left to sleep in tents on Thursday, four days after the disaster struck the Iran-Iraq border area. Sarpol-e Zahab is one of Iran's worst hit areas Iran, where many residents must now live in tents provided by the local government. According to state news agency IRNA, the quake left at least 530... At least 14 provinces in Iran were affected by the quake which destroyed two whole villages, damaged 30,000 houses and left thousands of people injured. The powerful tremor struck Sunday night about 102 kilometres (64 miles) southeast of the city of Sulaymaniyah, near the Iraq-Iran border. It was felt across several parts of Iran, including the provinces of Kermanshah, Kurdistan, Ilam, West Azerbaijan and East Azerbaijan.
