Iran: Rouhani calls for unity against US, Israeli interference

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani called for unity against what he described as US and Israeli plans to sow discord inside Iran, during a cabinet meeting in Tehran on Wednesday. They [the United States and Zionism] want to separate the people from the system, to make them disappointed with the system. Their second goal is to create a conflict among the triple powers and the country's officials. We should not allow that, we should not give permission to the US, we should not give permission to Israel,» he said. «Our perspective is to have good and constructive interaction with the countries of the region and our neighbours. Of course, two (neighbouring) countries themselves did not want to have constructive relations with us, and if they wanted so, we would have good relations with them,» Rouhani added on Iran's foreign policy. «The Europeans did the right thing for a period, but failed to continue the path due to US pressures. It's their own fault.» After the US withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), often referred to as the Iran nuclear deal, in 2018, Washington imposed heavy sanctions on Iran, which it has subsequently broadened and added to.
