Iran: Putin says Russia, Iran and Azerbaijan «must coordinate efforts» in energy sector

Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran do not have to compete in the energy market, but coordinate their efforts, speaking at a press conference following trilateral talks with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Tehran on Wednesday. Putin noted, «It is well known that Russia, Iran and Azerbaijan are major producers of... Еще hydrocarbons, but this does not mean that we have to compete.» He added that «despite the large production of these hydrocarbons in each of our countries, there is, curiously enough, interest in supplying this raw material to each other, keeping in mind internal logistics,» asserting that Russia is ready to supply gas to the north of Iran through Azerbaijan's pipeline system. On the topic of Syria, Putin emphasized that Russia's coopertation with Iran and Turkey has «witnessed positive developments in Syrian territory in the fight against terrorism and also the negotiation process that took place in Astana.»
