World famous Persian rug designs have been given a contemporary makeover for this summer's FIFA World Cup in Russia. The stunning carpets feature woven images of Moscow side by side with historic sites in Iran, as seen in footage filmed in Tehran on Sunday. The carpets feature different designs, since they will be sent to a number of locations around the world, and be gifted to organisations... Еще including Astan Qods Razavi Museum in Mashhad, the Russian Football Union, and the Football Federation of Iran as well as to teams Iran will be facing at the tournament this summer. The carpets, which are not official merchandise, include logos of teams taking part in the World Cup. «The goal of weaving these carpets is to introduce genuine Iranian culture into international arenas. The rugs will go down in history. One of them will be kept at the Russian Football Federation,» said weaver Hossein Kazemi Hamed. «May the entire world see these carpets and realise that Iranians are people of the arts,» he added. Hamed had sent similar rugs to the host countries of the previous five FIFA World Cups.
