Iran: Mourners bid farewell to Iranian military advisor killed by IS in Syria

Thousands of people marched through the streets of Tehran, Wednesday, as they took part in the funeral ceremony for 25-year old Iranian soldier Mohsen Hojaji, who was killed in Syria by militants of the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIL/ISIS) in August. Mourners with flowers and portraits of Mohsen Hojaji gathered at Imam Hussein Square and followed the cortege with a coffin to... Еще the Imam Hussein Mosque where the funeral ceremony took place. The Supreme Leader of Iran Ali Khamenei, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, as well as former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad were among those who attended the ceremony. The remains will be buried in Hojaji's hometown of Najafabad, Isfahan Province. Hojaji was an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps adviser for Syrian government military forces. Reportedly, IS militants detained him on August 7, near the Syrian-Iraq border, and beheaded him two days later.
