Police and riot police and vehicles dotted squares and streets of the Iranian capital Tehran on Thursday amid nationwide calls for protests.
Security forces had assembled in Sadeghiyeh Square and Shahid Square among other locations in the capital, in anticipation of a renewed wave of unrest.
Protests in Iran were triggered by an announcement of at least a 50 per cent increase in gas prices in... Еще Iran on November 14. The government said that the income generated from the reform would help to purchase basic goods and medicine, pay pensions and employees of state-owned institutions, and ease the burden of US sanctions on the national economy.
According to Amnesty International, more than 300 people were killed during nationwide protests in November.
