Surrounded by his cabinet members and standing next to Khomeini’s grandson, Hassan Khomeini, he added: «for a government which only wants to hear the voice of the revolution, it is too late. Governments should hear the people’s demands, criticisms, and their protests as well,» he stated. The statements come days after Rouhani’s live televised interview in which he attempted to answer questions related to economic hardships, air pollution, and other key issues for Iranian society. Iran was the scene of unrest in its major cities late last year with demonstrations rallying against rising food prices, unemployment and alleged corruption.
