Fifteen people have been killed in a Boeing 707 cargo plane crash in Karaj, west of Tehran, on Monday, according to Iran's military.
The plane, which had taken off from Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan was reportedly carrying a cargo of meat. Initial reports suggest the aircraft was due to arrive at Karaj's Payam Airport but say the pilot took the plane by mistake to Fath airfield, which is not suited for... Еще large cargo carriers.
The plane attempted to land in bad weather before skidding off the runway and careening into a residential area, according to reports.
According to the only known survivor of the crash, the flight engineer, the plane was carrying 15 other people. Ownership of the plane has not yet been officially announced.
Rescue operations were ongoing as emergency services attempted to secure possible surviving personnel.
According to a spokesperson for Iran’s Emergency department, seven bodies have so far been recovered.
