Iran: Citizens and media react to JCPOA meeting in Vienna

Residents of Tehran reacted on Saturday to the Joint Commission of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) meeting which took place in Vienna a day earlier. One citizen, Ali Farjam, said “I believe it would be way better if Iran walked away and did not say anything. I believe it would be better if there were no negotiations because they are surely not going to keep their promise.” “As... Еще for package proposed by Europe to Iran, and which did not satisfy Iranian officials; Europe should create guarantees for Iran so that Iran would stay committed to the JCPOA. One should be to guarantee Iran’s oil sales. And the second, should facilitate some banking transactions for Iran,” said Mehran Abdi. The participants of the JCPOA commission meeting discussed the body's next steps in the Austrian capital on Friday after the US announced its withdrawal from the deal. The European Union's Foreign Affairs Representative Federica Mogherini, who chaired the meeting, said the signatories of the nuclear deal will work to preserve the agreement, in a statement following the ministerial meeting. JCPOA, known unofficially as the Iranian nuclear deal, is an internationally-agreed-upon settlement which aims to limit Iran's nuclear programme in exchange for the gradual lifting of international sanctions.
