Iran: Astana to 'encourage terror groups to surrender arms' in Idlib — Rouhani

Russia, Iran, and Turkey have agreed to persuade Idlib militants to give up their weapons to limit civilian casualties, said Iranian President Hassan Rouhani as he spoke alongside Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Tehran on Friday. «We agreed that we ideally would like to encourage terror groups to surrender arms and end their military operations... Еще since these actions endanger Syrians and residents of Idlib,» Rouhani said. «The next meeting between leaders of our three countries will be held in the Russian Federation,» he added, as he emphasized continued trilateral cooperation until establishment of peace and security in Syria and the region. The latest trilateral summit of the Astana process was held in Ankara in April earlier this year and the three counties have been mediating a peace process for the Syrian crisis since 2016.
