Indonesia: Volcanic mud floods into Bali’s villages as thousands evacuate

Volcanic mud, known as lahar, is flooding into Bali’s villages from the rumbling Mount Agung’s volcano, footage shows Tuesday. The mud, which is a mixture of pyroclastic rock and water, is streaming along waterways as thousands continue to evacuate from the path of the island’s volcano. The Indonesian National Disaster Agency ordered anyone within a 10 km (6.2 m) radius to leave immediately... Еще, fearing a “major” eruption. Authorities may have to forcibly evacuate people from the exclusion zone. It is thought that between 90,000 and 100,000 people still need to leave. One evacuee said «I am a refugee from Kubu Village which is 12 km from Mount Agung, which has still not erupted, but I am really scared. I have brought all 12 members of my family to [Culik village] refugee camp.»
