A wreath ceremony in honour of killed havildar, Sunil Kumar, was held in the Indian city of Patna on Wednesday.
Locals and security forces were seen flocking to Patna airport, where wreaths were placed on top of the Kumar's coffin and soldiers saluted the deceased.
According to reports, the soldier from Dhibra, who was in the 16th battalion of the Bihar Regiment, lost his life on Monday night after clashing with Chinese forces at the Chinese-Indian border in Ladakh.
The conflict follows escalating tensions in the disputed region of Kashmir, which has been the subject of dispute between India, Pakistan, and China since 1947.
Chinese and Indian governments have been reportedly discussing de-escalations of conflict in the border in Eastern Ladakh after weeks of tensions and military standoff escalated into the first deadly incident in the Chinese-Indian border in 45 years.
