India: New Delhi streets crowded as India coronavirus cases top three million

As confirmed cases of coronavirus in India passed 3 million over the weekend and daily deaths approached 1,000, the streets of New Delhi were still bustling, with many passersby not wearing face masks or socially distancing, as seen in footage from Monday. «Our people don't understand the seriousness of this disease. In a few days, the cases are doubling in millions,» said Amrith Pal Singh, a New Delhi resident who complained that «careless» people are «roaming around without masks, they don't use sanitiser, even don't know what sanitiser is.» India, which is leading the world in new infections, has the third-highest number of confirmed cases of coronavirus after the United States and Brazil, after reporting 3,106,348 cases and 57,542 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University.
