«Within 10 weeks [of being re-elected], there has been a revoking of Article 370 and 35A, which was the dream of former Deputy Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel,» Modi said.
The prime minister's speech comes after an Indian presidential decree on August 5 revoked Article 370 of India's constitution which had guaranteed substantial autonomy for the territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The move provoked strong reactions in Pakistan, leading Islamabad's authorities to announce that they would cut bilateral trade with India and expel the Indian ambassador.
