India: Kerala man builds shrine to 'Corona goddess' amid pandemic

A man has begun worshipping the coronavirus as a goddess, and has been praying to it for protection for health workers at a self-built shrine in Kadakkal, in the Kollam district of the southern Indian state of Kerala. Anilan Muhoortham could be seen in the shrine he built next to his home on Monday. Muhoortham conducts daily rituals and says he prays «for the goodness of the world that we live in, especially for the health and well-being of the corona warriors. For the likes of health workers, police force, and the firefighters.» He explained Hindu traditions «promote the concept of seeing God in every molecule around us.» According to reports Muhoortham is not accepting visitors to his shrine in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
