Hundreds of pro-Beijing protesters staged a rally outside the Legislative Council building in Hong Kong on Saturday, to show solidarity with Hong Kong Police and denounce violent anti-government unrest.
Protesters were filmed waving Chinese flags while holding up posters «Police we stand with you» and “Support the police.» Many pro-police protesters laid white flowers outside the government... Protester organiser Shek Fong-Yau said: «Anti-violence, peace, support for the police and security — this is our aim. In the past five months, there has been a lot of violence and attacks, in the past week, we can't return to school, we can't work.”
Hong Kong has been rocked by protests sparked by a now-withdrawn extradition bill since the end of March. The rallies later evolved into a wider movement against the government, marked by months of clashes between protesters and the authorities.
